From melting sea ice to ocean plastics
We visit the Museum of Nature in Ottawa to learn from expert scientists how our communities in norther Labrador are facing melting sea ice that threatens their traditional way of life and safety as they navigate their ocean highway. We join the team at SmartIce to travel on the sea ice to see first hand why this is such a vital way of life for the community of Nain.
Next we learn about the impact of plastics in our oceans and in our bodies from the team at the Museum of Nature who send us on a mission in Burgeo, NL. There we work with the team at ACAP Humber in their efforts to clean the harbor and monitor environmental changes in the region.
It’s an eye opening insight into our own shores and why our health depends on taking action to stop the detrimental impacts of climate change and pollution.
