Embracing Winter
Winter is a time when many folks’ activity drops off but when we are surrounded by trails, snow and nature there is no better reason to get outside when it’s cold out!
TA Loeffler, a Professor at Memorial University teaching Outdoor Recreation and a Professional Mountain Climber who has climbed Everest takes Mike for a skate in Bannerman Park to chat about embracing winter and share information on winter activities in the area including those with accessible.
Then, Jodi Cooke, ski instructor and host of NTV News and David Whelan, professional skiier join Mike at White Hills for a day on the slopes to share their love of winter and all the activities it has to offer.
Rene Ritter, Survivalist and Solo Explorer takes Mike on an overnight campout and shares his knowledge and experiences related to winter survival after meeting him at the National Research Council Thermal Lab. There Mike meets Dr Jon Power, a Thermal Physiologist who gives him a chilling experience in the cold water immersion tank.
