Reconnecting with Nature
In this episode, we chat with psychologist, author, and adventurer Dr. Hassan Khalili about the mental health benefits of nature. He sends me on a journey to reconnect with nature in the beautiful Torngat Mountains National Park. It’s a reminder that a small dose of nature therapy can have a big impact on our mental health.
We start our journey by chatting with Author, and Psychologist Dr. Hasan Khalili, who wrote the book “A Life Spent Listening”. He has travelled around the world and encourages me to reconnect with nature in a place I have always dreamed of visiting – the Torngat Mountains National Park.
With the help of our friends at PAL airlines, I travel to Saglek Lake when the crew and I board a chopper to the base camp.
Our adventure starts with a polar bear briefing and a day of fun. We hike, check out a waterfall, fish and unwind. The next day we travel to North Arm to see the incredible valley and lakes, but first, we have to scare off a sleeping polar bear.
We chat with basecamp members, tour historic sites and connect, not only with the land but the way of life that only an environment like the Torngat Mountains can provide.
